We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Science Technician to join a successful and inclusive alternative provision in West London, commencing in September 2025.
The Role
As a Science Technician in this trauma-informed setting, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of practical science lessons for students aged 11 to 16. Working closely with teaching staff, you will prepare and maintain equipment, ensure health and safety standards are met, and help create a calm, engaging learning environment. The provision supports students who are either Permanently Excluded (PEX) or at serious risk of exclusion, many of whom present challenging behaviours linked to complex needs. Your consistency, patience, and attention to detail will help facilitate meaningful learning experiences and contribute to the students’ academic and personal development.
The Ideal Science Technician Will:
- Have experience working in a school science department or similar laboratory setting
- Be confident handling and maintaining science equipment and materials
- Be knowledgeable about health and safety procedures in a lab environment
- Be flexible, organised, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Be calm, kind, and able to build positive relationships with staff and students
- Have a good sense of humour and a compassionate approach
- Have prior experience working with young people with additional needs (desirable)
